The combination of powerful terminal services*
capabilities, and broad access to high-speed Internet services, has made
access to software through the Internet a very compelling business tool.
You are surely familiar with Web-based applications. The most familiar
are search tools like Google, and retail shopping sites like
www.Amazon.com. One reality for such
Web-based applications is that they™ are single-purpose
applications … you go there to search for information (Google),
or buy things (Amazon).
TNN’s FinancialWorkplace service takes
that concept and extends it to most any application you can
think of … Microsoft Office® applications (Outlook, Excel, Word,
etc.), SQL databases, financial products like TaxCut® and
QuickBooks®, line-of-business applications for specialty
businesses. Products that cannot be adapted to
FinancialWorkplace using terminal services are rare indeed.
Another attractive feature of FinancialWorkplace
is that you do not need to provide a server. In the FinancialWorkplace environment, TNN
rents a server to you, complete with operating system
licenses, and ample disk
space for data storage. The FinancialWorkplace server will be
reserved for your use only. It will house all your applications, user
accounts, and your business data, and no one else’s. Finally, for the
safety of your data and business information, the server will be backed
up daily, and a second, encrypted copy of the backup will be stored at a
separate location from the server itself.
